Ontario Online Commissioning is operated by duly appointed Commissioners of Oaths and Notaries Public under the Notaries Act and the Commissioners for taking Affidavits Act. We are fully authorized by the Province of Ontario to administer oaths, affirmations, and statutory declarations remotely. When you notarize with us, your documents carry the exact same legal weight as an in-person appointment.
We strictly adhere to the remote virtual commissioning regulations set by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).
Our tamper-evident digital seals are accepted by courts, banks, universities, and government bodies worldwide.
Your sensitive data never leaves Canada. We use PIPEDA-compliant software and 256-bit encryption to ensure your documents are permanently protected and instantly deleted from our active servers after delivery.
Yes. Under Ontario Regulation 431/20 (Administering Oath or Declaration Remotely), virtual commissioning is completely legal and carries the exact same legal weight as an in-person appointment. Our digital seals are accepted by government bodies, courts, and universities.
You must present a valid, unexpired piece of government-issued photo ID during your secure video call. Accepted forms of identification include an Ontario Driver’s License, a Canadian Passport, or an Ontario Photo Card. Health cards are generally not accepted for identity verification.
Virtual commissioning rules in Ontario vary depending on the document. While we handle Affidavits, Statutory Declarations, and Travel Consents quickly online, documents like Wills and Powers of Attorney have stricter witnessing requirements under the Succession Law Reform Act. Please contact us directly to see if your specific estate document qualifies for virtual witnessing.
No. Ontario Virtual Notary provides commissioning and witnessing services only. We are not a law firm and cannot provide legal advice regarding the contents, formatting, or legal implications of your documents. If you need legal advice, please consult a qualified lawyer.
